The Success Planning 2023 Community of Practice will begin with an in-person summer workshop at the Harvard Graduate School of Education in Cambridge. The 2023 Community of Practice includes the following communities from the cohort 2022: Albuquerque, New Mexico Baltimore Chattanooga-Hamilton County, Tennessee Long Beach, California Minneapolis Nashville, TN New York City Poughkeepsie, New York and two communities in southern Illinois, including Carbondale Elementary School District #95 and Unity Point School #140. They have developed, supported and extended a range of tailored relationship-based initiatives to support all children and young people.ĮdRedesign’s Institute for Success Planning recently accepted a total of 16 communities to participate in the Success Planning 2023 Community of Practice, which will run from June 2023 to June 2024. Over the past year, through the Community of Practice, Cohort of 2022 communities have had opportunities for networking, professional development, capacity building, coaching, consultations, technical assistance and co-creating and making meaningful contributions to creating transformational change for children. In June 2022, the institute launched the first community of practice made up of cross-sector teams of school and community leaders from cities and towns across the country. Through a whole-child approach, planning for success provides a mechanism to ensure that each child is known, seen and heard, has a positive connection with a caring adult and is empowered on their roadmap to success. The plan highlights the child’s needs and strengths and identifies supports, enrichments, and other resources to remove barriers, help them grow, and support their goals. Success planning is a relationship-based approach that connects each child or youth with an adult navigator who co-creates a personalized action plan, in partnership with their family and other caring adults. With the generous support of the Barr Foundation and an anonymous donation, as well as additional financial support for success planning from the Carnegie Corporation of New York and the Oak Foundation, EdRedesign launched the Institute for Success Planning in March 2022 The institute accelerates community-led efforts toward broader personalization by advancing more systemic approaches to individualized supports, ensuring that all children and young people have clear and accessible pathways to success both at the school and in life. The EdRedesign Lab’s Institute for Success Planning at the Harvard Graduate School of Education has announced that its cohort of cross-industry teams from across the country will join its Success Planning 2023 Community of Practice.
